Business challenge
With a vision to put their clients and customers at the centre of everything they do, Inserve pride themselves on being future focused and continually seek out the latest technology.
Noelle Browne, Group Financial Controller, Inserve Australia, says the company recognised the need to modernise its existing core business operating system, Microsoft Dynamics NAV, by moving to a cloud-based system that would ensure guaranteed 99.9 per cent uptime.
“Moving to the cloud meant we could simplify and future-proof our core ERP system. In addition, with Microsoft support being discontinued for our on-premise solution, we grabbed the opportunity to re-platform in the cloud because we knew it would offer us a lower total cost of ownership and complete peace of mind about support and upgrades,” explains Browne.

Solution
Having successfully implemented the business’s original ERP solution, Inserve again approached trusted technology partner DXC Technology, to migrate its current functionality to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.
Browne says, “DXC has always provided us with excellent technical consulting and support. With its deep understanding of our business and requirements, we were confident it would be a smooth transition for the business.”
The project was undertaken during the COVID pandemic, which meant dealing with resourcing limitations, but Browne says the DXC Practice for Microsoft adapted its approach successfully without compromising the result.
DXC also ensured that an existing integration with Inserve’s in-house system, Ensure Flow, was converted without issue, “DXC worked with the EnsureFlow team to convert the SQL integration to a cloud-based web service integration with minimal effort and downtime.”
“We have never had a technical project run so seamlessly. The DXC resources were knowledgeable and experienced, and the project came in on time and under budget.”

Results and benefits
Seeking DXC’s help with the transition proved the right decision.
“We have never had a technical project run so seamlessly. The DXC resources were knowledgeable and experienced, and the project came in on time and under budget,” says Browne.
Inserve is now on a fully supported platform, enjoying the cloud-based system’s resourcing and cost benefits.
“We no longer have to retain in-house resources to manage the solution, as Microsoft takes care of ongoing maintenance and upgrades,” adds Browne.
“The real test is that we have continued to run ‘business as usual’ since the migration to Business Central with absolutely no system issues. We have standardised and simplified our core business solution and have the assurance that Microsoft’s compliance standards will ensure it remains operating at full efficiency.”
She foresees other advantages will accrue in the future, “The fact we are now using the latest technology gives us much better access to the rest of Microsoft’s technology stack. So if we want to leverage Microsoft Power Apps, for example, we are in a perfect place to do that.”
